Ancient Greek Language and Literature (BGreek)

The undergraduate programme in Ancient Greek Language and Literature has been in operation since 1998 and is one of the longest-established programmes of its kind in Turkey. Delivered within a Classical Philology framework, the programme follows an integrated educational model together with Latin Language and Culture, reflecting the inseparable nature of the two ancient civilisations in terms of language, history, culture, and administration.

Students enrolled in the programme receive intensive training in ancient Greek language and civilisation whilst also acquiring a solid grounding in the language, literature, culture, and history of Roman civilisation. Graduates are equipped to read and interpret literary texts and documents in both languages, and to analyse the historical, geographical, and cultural dimensions of both civilisations.
