The undergraduate programme in Latin Language and Literature has been in operation since 2019 and is one of the first independent undergraduate programmes of its kind to be established in Turkey. Delivered within a Classical Philology framework, the programme follows an integrated educational model together with Ancient Greek Language and Culture, reflecting the inseparable nature of the two ancient civilisations in terms of language, history, culture, and administration.
Students enrolled in the programme receive intensive training in Latin language and Roman civilisation whilst also acquiring a solid grounding in the language, literature, culture, and history of ancient Greek civilisation. Graduates are equipped to read and interpret literary texts and documents in both languages, and to analyse the historical, geographical, and cultural dimensions of both civilisations.
